Marina Mirage
Meridien Marina Mirage - Wharf St, Port Douglas.
Marina Mirage Port Douglas is Steaks, shakes, lunches that go on forever, late night beats, a legendary Sunday breakfast and an oyster bar with a view … Now called Meridien Marina, it’s either a mall or someone’s idea of nirvana. Okay, it’s the former, but in typical Port Douglas style, even the local mall has a view of Eden.
Done shopping, just got back from the reef, want to get off the main drag? Or maybe you just want to check out the sails. Or find some aircon. Then, it’s time to check out the Meridien Marina, Port Douglas’s harbourside haven. Set on the banks of Dickson’s Inlet, overlooking the gorgeous colourful hills of Mossman Ranges, Meridian Marina is both a yachtspotter’s delight and a one stop food & bev shop.
For fans of a good steak it’s hard to get past Hog’s Breath Café, where the slow cooked specialty cuts and giant burgers are the ideal protein fix. (The curly fries are cute too.) A little further up the deck, you can dock in at Marina View, where the new operators Brendan and Rachel are ready to welcome you to the ultimate harbourside feast (including that Sunday brekky sesh we mentioned earlier and the aptly named Skase’s Bar). Then again, for a North Queensland style bistro chill, town’s newest restaurant, Lure, does everything from great recovery breakfasts to cruisy lunches and super fresh oysters in the evening. It’s classic Port Douglas.
Of course, if you just want a coffee or a beer and a moment to chill, all three establishments offer you grandstand alfresco seats in paradise, not to mention wicked photo opportunities. The Meridian Marina in Port Douglas Australia is a great way to chill.
Moving indoors, (mmm, aircon), it’s time to do the snack thing with the kids at Nice n’Icy. Quick lunch, bakery product to go, shakes, freshly made sandwhiches and juice. It’s a very kid friendly option. So parents, what more could you want?
If you come back in May during Carnavale you can strap yourself in for Port Douglas’s legendary annual gourmet marathons, the Longest Lunch and Seafood Extravaganza. Definite local social calendar highlights.
True, the Meridian Marina is a mall, but it ain’t no food court; after all, it has a view of paradise.
